Jimmy Monsen first began playing the concertina at the age of seven.  By the age of ten, Jimmy's Band was already established and performing in clubs.   Jimmy has been playing the concertina at local clubs around the Milwaukee area for over 30 years, playing a variety of music including polkas, swing, country music, and rock and roll.  Jimmy Monsen and his band of top notch sidemen are fantastic contributors to Milwaukee's polka/variety music scene.  

In loving memory of Thomas M Monsen, Jimmy Monsen's Father, who passed away on May 24, 2010, age 75 years. Beloved husband of the late Janis (nee Feit). Loving father of Marylin (Michael) Fox, Robert (Mari) Monsen, James (Maxine) Monsen and Jane (Thomas) Monsen-Hickey. Grandfather of 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mary Monsen-Kunze and Margaret (Dennis) Hoffman. Also survived by other relatives and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 29, at 10 AM, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 12801 W. Fairmount Ave., Butler. Visitation Friday at the funeral home from 6 PM to 9 PM. Interment Wisconsin Memorial Park. Tom worked a lifetime in the family business with his father, his sons and grandsons, Maynard Monsen and Son, Inc. until the time of his death.  Jimmy's father was always supportive of Jimmy's love for music and will be sincerly missed by all.
